Our community

Our community

We, the “Freie evangelische Gemeinde” (FeG) in Saarbruecken, are a multicultural and intergenerational free church. We are convinced that there is nothing better than a life with Jesus Christ – the central person in the Bible. For this reason, it is extremely important to us that people in our environment get to know God, find freedom, discover their purpose and live out their calling.

The FeG in Saarbruecken was founded in 1982 and currently has around 120 members. Our pastor Joachim Hipfel has been active here since 2010.

What our heart beats for

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who gives us forgiveness and eternal life through his death and resurrection. He is the center of our faith and our community.

We see our church as a place where people can find answers to life’s questions, experience healing and experience the unconditional love of God.

Our community is intergenerational and everyone is invited to contribute their gifts and talents.

We are also passionate about helping those in need. It is important to us to provide practical help and to share with others what God has given us. This is why we support projects such as the HCI Children’s Village in Dorohoi (Romania) and Rahel Beyer in Cameroon financially and with on-site work.

Guests are very welcome at our church services. We look forward to sharing life together.

Community leadership

According to our understanding of the New Testament (second part of the Bible), a church should be led by several experienced church members (also known as “elders”). The church leadership is responsible before God and the members for the development and direction of the church’s work. As church leaders, we serve the church by supporting it in growing spiritually and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with other people.
