New here?
So, you’re with us for the first time! The good thing about an internet page is that you can check us out within your own four walls: Who am I actually dealing with? What does this church offer me? Would I fit in?
Take your time to look around. You may have a few questions that other people have had before you. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions.
+ Where can I find you?
Our main rooms are in the Folsterhoehe neighborhood: Hirtenwies 46 in 66117 Saarbruecken.
+ Can I come to the service if I am not a member?
We love welcoming everybody who comes to the service! There are no prior conditions for attending our church services. You question the Christian faith? You are very welcome nonetheless! We try not to speak “technical jargon” because we want to make sure that everyone can understand us.
+ Do I have to register for the service?
With us, you can come and go as you please. If you have any questions or need further information before or after the service, just come and talk to us.
+ How does a church service normally work?
There is no fixed liturgy or schedule. The persons organizing the services (service leaders) are quite free in their task. However, there are elements that are part of every service, like, for example, a sermon as well as time for prayers and songs. We also celebrate the Lord’s supper once a month. You can read more about our church services under Church services.
+ How long does a church service usually last?
The service starts at 10:40 a.m. (matching the bus schedule) and ends somewhere between 11:45 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Services including the Lord’s supper last a little longer.
+ Can I bring my children along?
Yes, of course! Children should also feel at home with us. We offer a children’s service for children in two age groups, where they can listen to a story from the Bible, do crafts, sing and play with children of the same age.
+ Where can I park my car?
You will find a limited number of parking spaces directly at the church community center. Additional free parking is available approx. 400m in front of the community center in the EDEKA parking lot.
+ How do I get to you by bus?
Take bus 106 or 107 from the bus stop “Rabbiner-Ruelf-Platz” in the direction of “Folsterhoehe Siedlung” to the bus stop “Hirtenwies”.
+ What about accessibility?
There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet as well as barrier-free access to the rooms for church services and children’s services.
+ Is there a dress code for the service?
No, we don’t have a dress code! Suits, ties or skirts are welcome to stay in the closet – come as you like!
+ Do I have to bring money?
No. Both the service and the drinks and cake afterwards are free of charge. However, hand baskets are passed through the rows during our church services, into which you can place a monetary donation. But of course, like everything else, this is voluntary! As we are financed exclusively by donations, the so-called collections are intended for the work of the church or for projects that we support. You can find more information about these projects under Projects.
+ I don’t know any church songs…
No problem. We sing simple songs that you learn relatively quickly. The lyrics are projected onto a screen. And nobody is forced to sing along – so you are welcome to just listen.
+ What happens after the service?
After the service there will be free drinks and cake. We look forward to talking to you and getting to know you!
+ Can I listen to one of your sermons somewhere?
Yes, you can find the sermons of the past weeks and months as videos on our YouTube channel or as a sermon podcast on Spotify.
+ Where can I find current dates?
Special dates and events can generally be found on our church website under Home. If you would like to be regularly informed about dates, changes and live streams, please subscribe to our Telegram channel.
+ I have more questions…
We will be happy to try and answer your questions. If you would like to write to us, click here to get in touch. Or simply drop by! We look forward to getting to know you!
